Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-05-19
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of ManageCert (“the Service”), operated at managecert.com. By creating an account or using any part of the Service, you agree to these Terms.
2. What the Service does
ManageCert monitors SSL certificates, domain registration expiry, and DNS records for domains you add to your account. We notify you via email and any webhook channels you configure when monitored properties are approaching expiry, have changed, or have failed.
We also operate a free public checker at /check that returns a one-time scan of any publicly resolvable domain. The checker is rate-limited per IP and may be CAPTCHA-gated to prevent abuse.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for all activity on your account, including keeping your sign-in email secure and keeping any webhook URLs (Slack, Discord, custom) you provide pointed at endpoints you control.
We use magic-link authentication. We do not store passwords for the Service. You must have access to the email you sign up with to sign in.
4. Acceptable use
You agree NOT to:
- Use the Service to scan or monitor domains you do not own or have permission to monitor.
- Attempt to abuse, scrape, or overwhelm the free public checker beyond posted rate limits.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, including circumventing security controls of third-party systems.
- Resell, sublicense, or repackage the Service without our written permission.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, other customers' data, or our infrastructure.
5. Subscriptions, billing, and trials
Paid plans (Solo, Pro, Agency, Studio) are billed through Stripe. You authorize recurring charges to your selected payment method at the cadence (monthly or annual) and tier you choose. A 14-day free trial is provided at the start of each new subscription; you will not be charged until the trial ends.
You may cancel anytime via the Customer Portal accessible from your billing settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then. We do not provide pro-rated refunds for unused time on a current period unless required by law.
Per-domain overage (above your tier's included quota) is billed by Stripe at your tier's rate, settled at period close.
We may change pricing for new subscriptions or at renewal. Existing customers will receive at least 30 days' notice of any price change affecting them.
6. Service availability and accuracy
We make commercially reasonable effort to perform daily checks and deliver alerts in a timely manner. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that alerts will arrive within any specific time window. Third-party providers (registrars, DNS, RDAP, email delivery, hosting) may delay or fail in ways outside our control.
You are responsible for your own monitoring strategy. ManageCert is an additional layer of protection, not a substitute for your own operational hygiene around your domains and certificates.
7. Your data
You own the data you provide to the Service (domain hostnames, alert preferences, webhook URLs, etc.). You may export your data anytime from the Account settings page and delete your account anytime, which removes your data per our Privacy Policy.
Snapshots and alert history are retained for the lifetime of your account, then deleted on account deletion.
8. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers including Stripe (billing), Supabase (database + auth), Resend (email delivery), Cloudflare (CAPTCHA), Upstash (rate limiting), Anthropic (AI alert explanations), Vercel (hosting), and public registry RDAP endpoints (WHOIS lookups). Their terms apply to data they process on our behalf. See our Privacy Policy for details.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MANAGECERT'S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) $100. WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION) EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or fail to pay for an active subscription. You may delete your account at any time from Account settings.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes will be announced via email and reflected by an updated “Last updated” date at the top. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in that jurisdiction.
